The rectangular-prism formula applies to an ideal box with three mutually perpendicular dimensions. Here every dimension is in metres, so the direct result is in cubic metres.

Substitute 2, 3, and 4

V = length × width × height = 2 × 3 × 4 = 24 m³. All factors are rational, so the result is exact and needs no approximation.

The exact result is also 24,000 litres

Because 1 m³ equals exactly 1,000 L, multiplying 24 by 1,000 gives 24,000 L. This is a unit conversion, not a claim that a real box safely holds liquid.

Check internal versus external dimensions

External dimensions include wall thickness; internal dimensions describe available ideal space. VolumeCalc uses exactly the dimensions entered and does not subtract walls, supports, rounded corners, or empty clearance.
