V = b × h × L ÷ 2

Triangular prism volume calculator

Multiply the triangle base by its perpendicular height and the prism length, then divide by 2.

Triangular prism volume formula

V = base area × length = (b × h ÷ 2) × L

b is the triangle base, h is its perpendicular height, and L is the perpendicular length between the two triangular faces.

Example: base 6, height 4, and length 10

The triangle area is 6 × 4 ÷ 2 = 12. Then 12 × 10 = 120 cubic units.

Keep the three measurements distinct

A triangle has area, not volume. First find that area with b × h ÷ 2, then extend it along the prism. Use the same length unit in all three fields to get that unit cubed.
